TIK TOK VIDEOS
Tik Tok is a video app that's quite popular (an understatement) amongst millennial and Gen Z users. Tik Tok videos are typically between 15-60 seconds.
Tik Tok has changed the way brands interact with their audiences as well as how fans speak to each other. All the videos below are examples of fan-made videos that would appeal to Star Wars fans.
TIK TOK'S IMPACT ON DIGITAL STORYTELLING
AHSOKA TANO
In Ahsoka written by E.K. Johnston, it’s been a year since the Empire rose. Ahsoka believes that Anakin and Obi-Wan are both dead. She spends most of the book grief-stricken and on the run. There are often flashbacks to her happy moments with her former Masters (which were more like a family to her). The video highlights her pain, which wasn’t really discussed past Rebels even though she’s a beloved character.

CINEMATOGRAPHY IN 'FORCE AWAKENS'
A golden rule on Tik Tok is "the more genuine the video, the more views." People aren’t interested in high-quality professionally shot content. They want relatable bits that appear to be from the recorder's home. I took a video of the scene where Kylo Ren kills Han Solo and then did a voice-over on the lighting techniques used in the film from my living room to match that expectation.

INSIDE 'THE RISE OF SKYWALKER NOVELIZATION
In The Rise of Skywalker, shortened to TROS by fans, Leia Organa sacrifices her last amount of energy to reach her son. In the book, it’s noted that she intends to leave her powerful legacy to main characters within the film. The video elaborates on those legacies, which was previously not known if you solely watch the movies.

TAYLOR SWIFT TREND VIDEO
Taylor Swift’s surprise album Folklore is still trending across Tik Tok because of its marketing approach. Tik Tok is huge for promoting music. Music is a great way to tell a story so I decided to create a video that contained Kylo Ren and Rey’s story mixed with the Taylor Swift trend. In this video, I experimented with audio in Adobe Premiere Pro and then used a mobile video editing app called Splice to create a high-resolution edit that could be posted on Tik Tok.
